Traditional Worship

The United Methodist Church of the Atonement is steeped deep in tradition existing for 147 years. At our Traditional Worship, we are blessed to have one of the finest organs made, and an excellent organist and minister of music to provide us a wonderful traditional worship.

We have an excellent adult choir that brings us anthems each week; along with the Carol Choir, our youth choir. During summer months when the choir does not sing, we have special music provided to us mostly by the congregation. Keeping true to our tradition, we pray the Lord’s Prayer and affirm our faith each week using the Apostle’s Creed.

As the pastor of the church, I feel that it is important to provide and to keep intact the traditions of the church; however, we do utilize modern technology to enhance the worship service. Monitors display songs we sing, scriptures we read, and videos we show. Sermon notes are also displayed on the monitors.

We place a high priority on excellent worship and on messages that people will be able to use during the week as we live in the “real world.” The Traditional Worship is very uplifting, vibrant, and relevant for the world we live in today.

The vision for our Contemporary Worship is through the Holy Spirit’s guidance, create a worship service which Glorifies God, reaches out to the world, encourages believers in their walk, equips believers as they carry out the continued work of Christ, challenges followers of Christ to live in accordance to God’s will and Jesus’ example. We strive for our Contemporary Worship to have an atmosphere that is exciting, irresistible, and excellent.

At our Contemporary Worship, we accomplish these goals through the Word, scripture, testimony, music, prayer, and fellowship. Please join us as we worship the Holy God, our Creator, our Father, our Rock, our Redeemer, and our Savior.
